Education Advisory Committee

Duties: 

  • Promote and provide public awareness for programs, opportunities, initiatives of public, private, and charter schools, to recognize and promote the accomplishments of students, educators, and all schools located within the City; to also oversee and recommend up to ten (10) educational scholarship awards each year to high school/and or college eligible students who reside in the City.

Membership: 

  • Nine (9) Regular members
  • One (1) Councilmember to serve as a liaison with no voting power.
  • One (1) Student from John I. Leonard to serve as a liaison with no voting power.
  • One (1) Middle school student from City’s Youth Program to serve as a liaison with no voting power.
  • City’s Community Services Coordinator will serve as the Committee Coordinator, but with no voting power.
  • Committee members shall be City residents. 

Terms:

  • Five (5) regular members serve three (3) year term
  • Four (4) regular members serve two (2) year term

Meetings:

  • Scheduled by the City’s Community and Recreation Services Department.
